short story response # 1

To answer the Question "How do words and actions influence who others become?"I choose the short story " The Scarlet Ibis". I choose this story because I think that it strongly explains how ones actions and words can changes ones attitude toward someones thinking like learning to walk. This is exactly what happens in the Scarlet Ibis. A young boy named Doodle was born weak and thin as a twig, and Doodle's older brother was upset about his little brother being weak. So one day Doodle's older brother pushed and told his little brother that he could walk, all he had to do was try. Those simple words were all it took to get Doodle to his feet and practice walking. This goes to show that eight simple words and the fact of a older brother trying so hard to help his little brother can make one walk and change their appearance and confidence of themselves. For the second question "To what extent do actions change intentions?" I choose the short story "The Scarlet Ibis." I choose this story because I think it also explains well to what extent actions can change ones intentions. Doodle's older brother just by telling him and teaching him how to walk, changed Doodles intentions about walking, because at the beginning of the story every one had low intentions on Doodle walking.
